We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to support our Client with the leadership of a busy, professional kitchen .

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled culinary professional to play a key role in delivering high-quality dishes, driving kitchen standards, and contributing to an exceptional dining experience.

Pay Rate: £16.50-17.00 per hour

Additional Pay: Approx average £2.00 per hour

Location: Cairndow (near Dunoon)

The Role

As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistently high standards in food preparation, presentation, and hygiene. You will take a hands-on leadership role during service, support menu development, and help maintain a positive and high-performing kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, cook, and present dishes to a consistently high standard

Ensure all food follows established recipes and presentation guidelines

Support menu development, including seasonal dishes and specials

Conduct quality checks and tastings to ensure consistency

Act as a key leader during service, supporting decision-making and service flow

Assist with onboarding and training of new team members and apprentices

Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen standards

Assist with stock control, ordering, and inventory management

About You

Essential:

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role

Strong knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and kitchen operations

Experience working in a fast-paced environment

Understanding of allergen management and food safety standards

Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards

Intermediate Food Hygiene certification

Desirable:

Experience working with fish and seafood

Formal culinary qualification or equivalent training

Due to our Client's location, your own transport would be desirable
